ART 1050—Drawing I (3)
An introduction to visual hierarchy, composition, and pictorial space in drawing. Emphasis on linear perspective and the language of light and shadow using black and white media (graphite, charcoal and/or conte crayon). Development of skills and concepts in drawing based on historical models, lectures, demonstrations and critiques. Expendable materials fee required.

ART 2200—Drawing II (3)
Continuation of Art-Drawing 1050. Emphasizes drawing the human fi gure in a variety of black and white media. Prerequisite: ART 1050. Expendable materials fee required.

ART 2210—Beginning Color Drawing (3)
Theory and practice in the use of pastel working from stilllife, landscape, and portrait. Expendable materials fee required. Prerequisites: ART 1010 and 1050.

ART 3200—Drawing III (3)
Continuation of Art-Drawing 2200. Emphasis in basic anatomical knowledge in drawing the human figure. Expendable materials fee required. Prerequisite:
ART 2200.

ART 3210—Intermediate Color Drawing (3)
Continuation of Art-Drawing 2210 with emphasis on design and organization. Prerequisite: ART 2210. Expendable materials fee required.

ART 3220—Anatomical Drawing (3)
Anatomical structure of human fi gure as it relates to art. Drawing from live model; emphasis on gross anatomy as defi ned by skeletal and muscular structure. Expendable materials fee required. Prerequisites: sophomore standing and two semesters of drawing. Web:

ART 3450—Beginning Illustration (3)
An introduction to viusal problem solving from initial concept through fi nal execution. Emphasis in drawing and painting skills and exploration of mixed media techniques including drawing from the model. Expendable materials fee. Graded on A/F basis only. Prerequisites: ART 1030, 1040, 1050,

ART 4200—Drawing IV (3)
Continuation of Art-Drawing 3200, with increased emphasis on expressive drawing and composition. Repeatable to 15 hours. Expendable materials fee required. Prerequisite: ART 3200.

ART 4210—Advanced Color Drawing (3)
Continuation of Art-Drawing 3210 with emphasis on the expressive properties of color in figural compositions. Repeatable to 15 hours. Prerequisites: ART 3210 or instructor’s consent. Expendable materials fee required

ART 4220—Advanced Anatomical Drawing (3)
Continuation of Art-Drawing 3220, Anatomical Drawing, with and emphasis on formal analysis of the fi gure in drawing based on superfi cial and deep anatomical structure. Prerequisites: ART 3200 or 3220 and graduate standing. Web: http://www.missouri.edu/~mla49/

ART 4285—Problems in Drawing (cr.arr.)
Prerequisites: departmental consent.

ART 4450—Advanced Illustration (3)
Further development of conceptual problem solving skills and technical proficiency through self generated assignments. Emphasis is placed on portfolio development by exploring sequential and narrative themes. Topics include contract, copyrights, and the art of freelancing. Students are advised to take the course a minimum of two times. May be repeated to 15 hours maximum. Payment of expendable materials fee required. Prerequisites: ART 3230.
