Major Program Requirements - BA ART
Art majors earning a BA degree complete art foundations courses, art core requirements and art studio electives. No more than 40 credits in studio art may be included in the BA curriculum. Students enrolled in the BA degree program may not include art or art history courses with a grade of D. BA students are required to take 9 credits in art history, and at least two art history courses must be numbered 2000 or above. The last two full semesters and at least 35 credits in courses numbered 3000 or above must be completed on the MU Campus. In addition students must complete all College of Arts and Sciences and University graduation requirements, including University general education.

Major Program Requirements - BFA Art
Art majors earning a BFA degree complete art foundations courses, art core requirements and art studio electives with 15 credits in one specific media area. Students enrolled in the BFA degree program may not include art or art history courses with a grade of D. All art students are assigned a departmental faculty adviser. Students are encouraged to meet with the adviser to plan a program of studio with focus in a particular media area. BFA students will take 60 to 70 hours in studio art with 15 of those hours, minimum, in a specific media area and 12 hours in Art History. At least two Art History courses must be numbered 2000 or above. A maximum number of 70 hours of course work may be taken in studio art. Thirty-five (35) credit hours must be completed at MU. Thirty (30) hours of the 120 needed to graduate must be numbered 3000 or above. In addition students must complete all College of Arts and Sciences and University graduation requirements, including University general education.

Minor in Art
A minor in art consists of 15 hours of studio art courses. Six of these hours need to be numbered 2000 or above and a minimum of nine of those hours need to be in residence at MU. In addition to studio art a minor is required to take 3 hours of Art History for a total of 18 hours.
