ANNOUNCEMENT: The deadline for registration for High School Art Day has been extended until Wednesday, November 2.

REGISTER ONLINE

High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors are cordially invited to attend the High School Art Day at Mizzou. Parents and art teachers are also cordially invited to attend.

Students are encouraged to
  • bring their art to the University of Missouri
  • participate in a number of art workshops
  • see the art facilities on campus
  • meet members of the Art faculty
  • be our guests for lunch in a campus dining hall and
  • participate in a tour of the campus led by MU art majors

High school students who plan to attend must register online at http://art.missouri.edu/artday/registerfall.shtml. PDF forms can also be downloaded and emailed by registration deadline, Wednesday, NOVEMBER 2, 2011, to warrenb@missouri.edu.

Students will be asked to choose from among the following list of instructional workshops they wish to attend. These 25-minute sessions will be presented by MU Art faculty members:

  • Drawing
  • Graphic Design
  • Painting
  • Ceramics
  • Photography
  • Fibers
  • Printmaking
  • Sculpture
  • Art Education
  • Art History
  • Architectural Studies

Visitors may view art by three Art alumni in the George Caleb Bingham Gallery.

Students, their parents, and their high school art teachers will be our guests for lunch in a campus dining facility.

Students are also strongly encouraged to bring up to four pieces of their art for review by MU Art faculty members.   This will be a great opportunity to get professional feedback from experts in the field.

Students will learn about courses and degrees available in the visual arts.

THE HIGH SCHOOL ART DAY AT MIZZOU

November 5, 2011 | SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES

9:30  Students will come to the Fine Arts Building (corner of Hitt Street and University Avenue), enter the northeast doors, deposit their art in the George Caleb Bingham Gallery in the Fine Arts Building (north end), view art in the Gallery, and then proceed next door to Rhynsburger Theatre for an orientation and schedule of the day’s activities.  Coffee and donuts will be available.  The locations of the workshops listed below will be announced at this meeting.
10:00 Art Workshop I  
10:30 Art Workshop II
11:00 Art Workshop III
11:30 Art Workshop IV
12:00 Art Workshop V
12:30 Lunch at a the Pavillion at Dobbs as our guests
1:45 Review of student portfolios by MU Art professors in various rooms in the Fine Arts Building.
2:45 Return to Rhynsburger Theatre for a special meeting for all students, parents, and teachers on study possibilities in the visual arts at Mizzou.  Special topics will include admission, financial aid, Freshmen Interest Groups, living-learning communities, courses for non-arts majors, and degree programs for students interested in art, art education, art history, and architectural studies.
4:00 End of activities.  Student, parents, and teachers depart for home.

Free Parking

Parking is available on the first three levels of the University Avenue Garage. This garage is located on University Avenue between College Avenue and Hitt Street in the northeast quadrant of the campus.
